This front page focuses on the support of people who are diagnosed with cancer. This is very effective with the special use of colours and pictures.
There is a powerful amount of different shades of green across the front cover; this suggests that it’s a more depressing mood as the colours are dark. This also contrasts with the picture as it also shows a depressed woman who holds a hot water bottle with a blanket rapped round her, this shows that she is ill but is given help by others as she was given the blanket to keep her warm. This is very affective as it shows protection to the women and also it allows the viewer to feel comfortable to look at the website as it gives the impression of helping people.
We see the dark green as a sign of depression and sadness. However the lighter green gives a different point of prospective. For example a traffic light turns green when cars are allowed to move forward. This is connected to the website as the light green gives an indication of moving forward onto the next step in life and helping people to create a better environment for them.
The page shows a little amount of text as they don’t want to bore the reader, however they use a lot of hyperlinks which persuade the viewer to click onto other pages which affectively makes them explore more of the website. This is a good use of hyperlinks as they are placed in the middle of the page so then the reader immediately focuses on that area and is persuaded to see what’s else is happening throughout the website by clicking them.
The layout is very basic like the cancer research website, as it shows a basic middle sized picture, headline small top left and text below.
I think the website is presented in this way to allow the user to not be confused with having large amount of text and hyperlinks so then it doesn’t scare off the viewer.
The main attraction to the page is the picture as it is an eye catching feature which focuses the viewer to know what the website is, he/she will then draw there attention to the hyperlinks which is then moved onto other features to explore more of the website. This is a very affective cycle which is used by many websites to keep the readers attention so then they don’t wonder off to other websites.
The font below the picture is small, which suggests it is not the focus of the page, and that the larger text on both sides of the picture is the main font attention as it is a larger font size.
It says, “Macmillan cancer support improves the lives of people effected by cancer”
This quote is very affective and is directs straight to the point of what the website is about. This is another good feature of the page as the reader will see the picture and then read the large text next to it. At this point the viewer will already know what the website focuses on and at a quick time, as the viewer will not use more time reading the page to know what it’s about. This is an important point feature that a website must have as; they only have about a minute to occupy the viewer until they are bored and will move onto other websites.
The target audience to this website would be an adult as the picture is an older woman and had no features which apply to a younger age group.
